House Guests: Contemporary Artists in the Grange (2001)

Book. Toronto: Art Gallery of Ontario, 2001.

Essays by Jessica Bradley, Jennifer Rieger and Charlotte Gray.

This exhibition marked the AGO’s centennial with interventions by artists Rebecca Belmore, Robert Fones, Luis Jacob, Elizabeth LeMoine, Josiah McElheny, Elaine Reichek and Christy Thomson in The Grange, a Georgian house that was the museum’s first home. The house is connected to the museum’s sculpture court and operated as an historic house museum with period furniture and costumed attendants until it was repurposed as the museum’s members lounge in 2008. Built between 1817 and 1820, The Grange is Toronto's oldest remaining brick house. During the nineteenth century, it was at the centre of the city’s social and political activity.
